Internship, Part-Time Work & Career Prospects

One of the most compelling aspects of studying in China is the opportunity to gain real-world work experience alongside your academic programme. Chinese universities permit international students to undertake internships and part-time employment, offering valuable income and professional exposure during your studies.

    Internship Opportunities

Both paid and unpaid internships are available, subject to your university and programme. Internships provide hands-on industry exposure and strengthen your post-graduation career profile significantly

    Part-Time Work During Semester

Approximately 8 hours per week (~40 hours/month) with university permission. Estimated earnings: $400–$500 USD/month (approximate, varies by candidate).

    Part-Time Work During Holidays

Up to 16 hours per week (~80 hours/month). Estimated earnings: $800–$1,000 USD/month (approximate). Finding part-time work is the student’s own responsibility.

🗣 Learn Mandarin! Students who can demonstrate Chinese language (Mandarin) skills have a significantly higher chance of securing part-time employment and are better positioned for long-term career settlement in China. Learning Mandarin is strongly advised for every student.

    Stay-Back & Work Visa Options

High-profile graduates may be eligible to convert their student visa to a work visa after graduation, subject to securing a relevant job offer and approval from Chinese authorities.

After 5 years of legal work visa status, graduates may apply for a Chinese Green Card, subject to current immigration policy.
